Fort Rocky 2009?

During this year we hope to spend a weekend away at Fort Rocky. This takes place at an outdoor activity centre where we do Abseiling, rock climbing etc. and learn about God. Over the past 3 weeks we have received several offers of help from Parents and the church in Filey. At the moment we plan to continue the group with parent’s help on a trial basis. If you have offered to help, we will contact you in the next few weeks to check your availability.

Pathfinders – helpers needed urgently

As you are aware, from February half term Hiede will be stepping down from her youth work commitment with the Church. This is so she can focus on her university studies and job.

As our members include boys and girls it is essential that every meeting has a male and female adult present. We are currently looking at the option of using parents to help with the supervision of the group. If you would be willing to help on a regular or occasional basis, please speak to Nigel or Hiede ASAP. Providing that enough help is forthcoming and the church leadership approve we will continue meeting. If we are not able to find a workable solution, the group will probably close at half term.

Before we make a final decision we need to make sure we have explored all of the options available to us such as:

Meeting on a different night
Finding another leader from the church
Seeing if the other churches can help
Asking parents to help

If you have any other ideas or know of someone who might be able to help, please let us know. Note that any helper / parent would need to:

be 18 years+
be sympathetic towards the Christian faith
work within the our child protection procedure

Slip ‘n’ Slide / Water games £1: This Friday 4th July 6:30pm - 8pm

Providing it’s not too cold on Friday, our activity will be Slip ‘n’ Slide with water games. During the night you WILL get VERY wet…we therefore ask that you dress in old clothes (trousers and a top) with your swimming costume underneath. You will need to bring a towel, a change of clothes and a water pistol (if you have one). During the night we use a lot of water, washing up liquid and energy. So beware if you are allergic to any of these!

To try to make this night a success, we all need to understand the rules:

Do not use water pistols in the hall
Do not play with water in the hall
Do not stand up on the slide

If you bring your own water pistol please write your name on it. Note that we will not accept responsibility if you loose / damage your water pistol.

If the weather is bad
If it’s cold or too wet we will meet in the hall for games from 6:30 – 8pm.

Fort Rocky deposits
If you’d like to come to Fort Rocky later this year, please remember to bring your £25 deposit by 16th July. Note that places will be given on a first come – first served basis.

What is Laser Zone?

The new Laser Zone at Little Hoppers is a dimly-lit labyrinth, with smoke, obstacles and barricades. The idea is to zap your opponents with a laser gun. By its very nature this game includes a small risk of tripping / bumping into each other etc. To keep this activity safe, you must follow the rules given in the briefing at the start of the session. Anyone not doing so will be taken out of the game for everyone’s safety. As this is our first time at Laser Zone we have only booked one game which lasts 30 minutes.

Dress sensibly!

You will need to wear ‘sporty’ clothes / trainers etc.

McDonalds

After the Laser Zone we plan to go to McDonalds. We will buy you a McFlurry. If you want to buy anything else, you will need to bring your own money.

Pathfinders starts this Friday 7th September

Welcome back! Pathfinders will restart this Friday 7th September. The younger group will meet at the Church hall from 6pm – 8pm for a night themed on hero’s. This will cost £1.

The older group will meet at 6 Cecil Road from 8:15pm – 10pm. There will be pizza and we’ll talk about our plans for the next few months. This will cost £1. We’ll also update you on the weekend away – we have some important things we need to tell you about…so please be there! If you can’t make it, please let us know.

Waste Watchers summer club 1st – 3rd August for ages 5 – 10

For three mornings in August, Hiede & Jonathan will be running a summer club at the Methodist Chapel for those aged 5 – 10 years. This will include games, activities, stories, songs etc. If you know anyone who would like to take part, please call Hiede (892510) or Jonathan (07759641910).

Cooking £1.50: this Friday 16th March

Hi there! On Friday night our activity will be cooking & games…this will cost £1.50. For this you will need to bring a bowl, a grater, a flat baking tray, a wooden spoon and a container to take your stuff home in.

Those aged 10 – 12 years will meet at the Church hall for 6pm – 8pm. Those aged 13+ will meet at 8pm - 10pm.

Slip ‘n’ Slide (older & younger groups) £1: This Friday 8th June 6:30pm - 8pm
Providing it’s not too cold on Friday, our activity for younger & older groups will be Slip ‘n’ Slide with water games. During the night you WILL get VERY wet…we therefore ask that you dress in old clothes (trousers and a top) with your swimming costume underneath. You will need to bring a towel, a change of clothes and a water pistol (if you have one). During the night we use a lot of water, washing up liquid and energy. So beware if you are allergic to any of these!

To try make this night a success, we all need to understand the rules:

Do not use water pistols in the hall
Do not play with water in the hall
Do not stand up on the slide

If you bring your own water pistol please write your name on it. Note that we will not accept responsibility if you loose / damage it your water pistol.

If the weather is bad
If it’s cold or too wet we will meet in the hall for games from 6:30 – 8pm.

No tuck shop this week

Video School - taster session - Saturday June 9th

On Saturday June 9th we are planning to run a video school "taster" session. If enough people are interested then we will look at running a weekend workshop where you will learn how to shoot videos / edit them. There will be no charge for the "taster" session.
